Navratri Recipe- Vrat Ke Aloo

Dahi Aloo Recipe

A light curry which is made from yoghurt and potatoes.
Prep Time- 20 mins
Cook Time- 8 mins
Serving 3-4

Dahi Aloo Ingredients

  • 1 extra large potato or 2 medium sized potatoes
  • 1 cup yoghurt or cashew yoghurt
  • 1 cup water (it may increase if required)
  • 1 tsp cumin ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp fennel powder
  • ½ inch ginger grated or chopped
  • ¼ tsp dry ginger powder
  • 1 tbs ghee
  • Rock salt to taste

Cooking the Recipe

  • • First boil potato, peel and crumbled it with hands instead of mashed. You can chop if you wish
  • • Heat the pan, pour ghee and the cumin seeds
  • • After that add the ginger and fry for a while
  • • Add the crumbled potatoes and sauté for 2-3 mins
  • • Add salt to taste
  • • After that add the dry powder spices and sauté for a min
  • • Beat the yoghurt and add to the pan. Keep it stir occasionally
  • • Add some water onto it and simmer for a while till the gravy thickens
  • • Garnish with coriander
  • • Serve hot

The recipe goes well with Singhare ki puri, Samak ka Pulaw and Sabudana ki Khichdi

Jeera Aloo Recipe

This is a quick recipe and tastes great. You can have this dish with simple curd, Sabudana ki Khichdi and Singhare ki puri.

Jeera Aloo Ingredients

  • • 1 large sized aloo or 2 medium sized potatoes
  • • 1 tsp green chilli paste
  • • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • • 1 red chilli
  • • 1 tbs Ghee

Cooking the Recipe

  • • Boil the aloo, peel it and crumbled or cut into small pieces
  • • Take a pan or kadai, heat the ghee
  • • Add cumin seeds and red chilli
  • • Let it brown a bit and add the crumbled potato
  • • Stir it occasional till it is crispy fried
